A village for every child, one avenue at a time.

An Evening in Englewood is more than a fundraising gala. It is an invitation to experience the heart of a neighborhood built on hope, healing, and unwavering determination — a celebration of the families, educators, mentors, faith leaders, businesses, and community partners who have chosen to invest in our youth.

For generations, Englewood has been defined by headlines that often overlook its greatest asset — its people. Kingdom Avenue, Inc. is not a program provider. We are community infrastructure, building a village strategically through partnerships, programs, projects, and events — so that education, mentorship, mental wellness, leadership development, and workforce readiness are not scattered services a family has to go hunting for, but one connected village that holds them.

Where we're gathering

The Spot Bistro on S. Halsted — a Black-owned Englewood restaurant. The dinner keeps its dollars in the neighborhood it is raising them for.

Why this one matters

This dinner is new — the work behind it is not. Eight years of infrastructure in the ground: a seven-organization coalition, a CPS contract, a paid youth pipeline, and a neighborhood that shows up. Being at the first one is something you can only do once.

A village is not built by accident. These are the four levers we build it with — each one deliberate, each one connected to the others, each one holding weight the rest could not carry alone.

B.U.I.L.D.E.R.S.

A paid summer leadership pipeline for ages 14–24 with Chicago Youth Works, run on a Discover → Develop → Do Better framework. Summer 2026 youth designed and staffed a seven-event community activation series.

Future Leaders of the World — empowering young women to discover their voice, develop their purpose, and do better every day.

Kingdom Konnect

A CPS-contracted continuum of care for Students in Temporary Living Situations. Warm hands. Warm hearts. Fresh starts. Families are connected through their school’s CPS STLS liaison.

Stomp The Yard

The free back-to-school celebration at 63rd & Halsted. The 6th annual drew 900+ preregistrations, 1,000 donated backpacks, a Battle of the Bands, and four $1,000 scholarships.

The Englewood Collective Action Project — a seven-organization coalition with Kingdom Avenue as the backbone, built on a Healing → Collaboration → Action arc.

VIP cocktail hour begins at 5:00 for VIP ticket holders. General admission doors open at 6:00, dinner at 6:30. Street parking available along Halsted. Attire: Gather in Gold.

The Tree of Life Awards

A community works like a tree

Every part of a tree is doing a different job, and not one of them is optional. Pull out any single part and the whole thing comes down. Tonight we honor all of it — and we start by naming the sun.

The Sun

Our young people. The guide, the fuel, the evidence, and the future of the work. A tree does not grow because it is working hard — it grows because something is calling it upward. Everyone in this room is just trying to catch that light and turn it into something our community can eat.

The Roots

Our elders

Underground and unseen. They anchored this neighborhood long before it was fashionable to invest here, and everything standing tonight is standing because they held.

The Trunk

Our organization leaders

The main structural support, and the transport highway. They hold organizations upright through late nights and lean seasons, and move what the whole village needs.

The Leaves

The workers

The food factories and power plants. The setting up, the breaking down, the long talks with neighbors, and everything in between. Tonight, we name the leaves.

The Water

Our philanthropic partners

Nothing grows without it. The funders who poured into this work while it was still a promise, and funded what they could not yet see.

The Air

Our connectors

You cannot see it, but every leaf is breathing it. The ones who open doors, make introductions, and never ask for credit on the way out.
